Families, Mountains, and Jeeps. Oh my! - Ouray Colorado Family Portraits

Jeeping the Colorado Mountains. Nothing quite like it!! We rented Jeeps from Switzerland of America and headed up our favorite mountain passes. The chill in the air was our judge as to how high in altitude we were at any given moment. We even drove past a snow bank! I don't get to see snow very often, so I soak in those moments. After a very windy picnic lunch on the top of California Pass (where my blanket was almost taken by the wind), we headed back to the campground to hang out with some of the most awesome people (and not to mention, a gorgeous bunch)! It's great when families get together even though they live all over the world. Of course, no trip is complete unless something breaks! We took a motorcycle ride with the cousins, and all was fine. Then they let Tom on a bike. He didn't make it into town without having to pull over. Then we heard the story that every bike of Steve's that Tom rides ends up with a hiccup of some kind (little brothers are a pain, aren't they?)! It's always fun to repair vehicles when you are away from home (and your tools!). Good thing there were some packed.

Here's a peek into our adventures! And a gorgeous family!

Colorado Skies - Ouray and Rocky Mountain National Park

It's been a while.
I missed it.
The (thin) mountain air.
 The chilly nights.
The scenery.
 Colorado.

It was fun to get away from the blistering heat and humidity (although the drive across Texas was less than 'cool' and caused a little craziness from miles of nothingness).
I'm a really fun road trip partner, I promise! :)

Once we hit those mountain roads, I knew I was where I was supposed to be. At that very moment.

Altitudes climbed, temps dropped, and curves beckoned.

At the top of each pass, the skies opened up and I felt like I could see forever - or at least the next mountain pass.

I love living in Louisiana. I also love traveling. Seeing new things. Meeting new people.

We went up for an event (more on that later!) but we had the chance to explore a few days before and after.

Here's a little bit of what we saw - and why we love it there!

The first part of our trip was in Ouray, and the last part was in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. If you haven't been, you really should make a trip out there!
