First Haircut /// Jaydon Avalon

Where does the time go? You've heard it said time and time again - "blink and they're graduating college"

Can you believe that our little Jaydon Avalon is already ONE!!??

With all of the cupcakes and wrapping paper, balloons and noise makers, my little boy is one.

I said I wouldn't get his hair cut before he turned a year old, and I made it!

Earlier this week we went to the cutest little haircut place in Baton Rouge - Pigtails & Crewcuts.

He just took it all in. Not quite sure what to think.

I'm pretty sure he aged 5 years from just a haircut. Not sure he'll be getting another one for quite a while haha!

Jaydon Avalon /// 8 months

Where has the time gone? Jaydon Avalon is almost 9 months -- and I haven't blogged 7 or 8 months yet!

He's pulling himself to standing and crawling like he's racing the Indy 500!!

We pass this gorgeous field almost every day (and I dream of a bride in a gorgeous wedding dress standing in the middle of it).

Jaydon was more interested in a patch of clover :)

Here he is at 8 months!!

Jaydon Avalon /// 6 months

Has it really been 6 months? I sit here, sipping my eggnog tea, listening to the sounds of the fish tank and a sleeping 6 month old, thinking back on the day we found out we were going to be having a baby.

It doesn't seem that long ago. At all.

Time passes way to quickly. We have the memories (photographs, videos, thoughts) of how we arrived here. At this very moment. Sipping tea.

Everything we experience shapes us and molds us into who we are today. Those hugs from your favorite Aunt as a child. Your school homework that you stayed up late to finish. Playing outside with the dog.

Everything.

Jaydon is just beginning his journey. It's so amazing to watch him grow. Seems like there's something new and exciting every day.

He still only has his two bottom teeth. He sits up unassisted very well. No crawling yet, but plenty of rolling over. Lots of babbling, laughing, and smiles!

Olivia - Newborn Session

They'd dreamed for 9 months of holding her in their arms.
Daddy's little girl before she had even seen his face.
Momma's little princess.

Although her room wasn't originally going to have any pink, every girl needs a little pink :)

Here's a little peek into Olivia's newborn session!

I can't wait to see this little sweetheart grow!!

Luke's Birthday -- Cake Smash Photographer

My Grandmother, my Mom, and I sat sipping different varieties of tea. We even tried orange tea because orange is my Grandmother's favorite flavor. We laughed until we cried with the greatest group of mothers and daughters from our church. Enjoying a mother/daughter tea for Mother's Day.

I love my days spent making memories with my Mom and Grandmother. Our tea times.

Traci and her mom were there as well. Making memories.

That particular special day was almost 4 years ago. Traci would be holding a gorgeous baby girl not too long after. Emma.

It seems like only yesterday to me.

These days, Emma has a little brother. Luke. Well, I guess he's not-so-little since he'll be celebrating his FIRST birthday soon!

He didn't really care for the big "1" on the cake. It was the first thing he grabbed and tossed to the side.

Oh the sink photos! This is my favorite from the whole day!

You can see more of Emma and Luke from previous appearances on the blog here and here, and more images from Luke's Cake Smash here.

Rain, Rain, Go Away -- Louisiana State Capital Gardens

Rain.  The forecast for the day.  On the extended forecast, it was the only day with thunder clouds on the picture.

The phone rang.  We moved up the time we were meeting.  Hopefully to avoid the rain storms.

As I drove into Downtown, the light was GORGEOUS!  The sun came out between passing clouds.  All those prayers and rain dances paid off.  In the back of my mind, I was thinking I missed the rain clouds and wanted more.  A nice overcast day can be an amazing picture day.

Much to our joy, the rain held off.  Two of the most adorable children were enjoying the gardens of the Louisiana State Capitol as I clicked away.  The light was still gorgeous in the shade, even with the sun.

This little guy wasn't really sure what to make of being sat down in the grass.  He's such a cutie though!  Oh. Those. Eyes!

Always the ham, and ever entertaining, this little girl kept me laughing :)  I mean, how adorable is she?!

I enjoyed the day with two of the most gorgeous kiddos, and two of the most amazing parents!  Thank you for allowing me into your world for a day.

It's Carnival Time

Mardi Gras. Fat Tuesday. Masquerade. Carnival.  Whatever you call it, it's an adventure you're sure to not forget. The gorgeous King and Queen with their elaborate attire.  The Ball, where everyone feels like a princess or prince.  The Masquerade.

King Cake. Oh, the King Cake!  I could live off of King Cake during the Mardi Gras Season.  If you haven't tried this heavenly confection, you most certainly should!  Best. Cake. Ever.  It's become a tradition that I get a King Cake for my birthday every year.

There are no shortage of parades on the weeks leading up to Mardi Gras Day.  The beads thrown today are not like the 'real glass' beads of the past.  Those were amazing!  These days it's all about the 'big beads'.  The shinier the better.  Non traditional colors and shapes will get the crowd screaming as well.  "Throw me somethin' Mister!"  This year, I was able to go to a small school parade for the amazing 'King Dirk'.

What the tourists don't see, is behind the scenes of Mardi Gras.  The comrodery of the locals.  The life long bonds and friendships of being in a Mardi Gras Krewe.  The planning.  The preperation.  The work.  The hard work.

Ever since I was a young child, we would go to the New Roads parade and spend time with the local members of the Woodmen of the World.  The fellowship and fraternalisim there are second to none.  My Grandfather would work in one of the Woodmen booths with his friends.  Jambalaya, Hamburgers, Nachos.  The smells of Carnival Time!  I was fascinated by the marching bands and the elaborate floats in the parades.  For the past several years, I have had the pleasure of working on the Woodmen of the World float in that very same parade.  The one I had a fascination with all those years before.  I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to share the Mardi Gras Season with.

Thank you, men and women of the New Roads Woodmen of the World, for sharing another Mardi Gras Season with me. Your hard work, dedication, and fraternalism are truly an inspiration to all.

And Then There Were Three

A few days ago, I was able to spend some time with a gorgeous little family.  We played soccer with Maddie (one of their dogs), tossed the football, swang on the swing, and just had an awesome time enjoying the sunshine in South Louisiana.

Dirk's best impression of a "Spider Monkey"

Anja, so full of cuteness and laughter!

Swinging on the swing.  They think I'm funny.

They even think I'm pretty hillarious at times!

I always enjoy the time I get to spend with this growing group of three.  They are just. so. adorable!  Mom and Dad aren't too bad theirselves (maybe one day they will make a showing in my pictures!)

Thank you, Dirk, Anja, and Hans, for sharing the day with me and my camera.

Princesses and Ladybugs - Denham Springs Louisiana Children's Photography

She's the princess, my mom says as she introduces me to anyone. Yes, I was my dad's princess.  My family has many princesses.  Then there's my grandmother, Mothers (as we call her), she's the queen.  Ask her. She'll tell you, and wave the queen's wave.

Today I had the honor of spending the day with two of the newest princesses in the family!  Meet Geni and Bre.  Yes, I shortened their names.  Princesses are cuter with shortened names, don't you agree?

Genevieve Fleur

Breann Jar'Boe

Just a little sneak peek from these two beauties :)  Baby Geni was having NONE of the picture taking.  She just wasnt in a good mood. On the other hand, Breann was all about laughing and having fun in her costume!  Maybe it was the 5 people behind me that were dancing around trying to make her laugh haha!
