Juicing - Foodie Fridays

Juicing.

These days, either you're doing it, or know someone who is.

And no, we're not talking about the old meaning of 'juicing' - this is literally making juice!

If you've followed us on instagram or facebook, you may have seen some photos of our juicing adventures.

We knew we weren't eating nearly enough vegetables (or fruits), but other than that, our clean eating habits were great! Couple that with the gym, and we were on a healthy path that not many Americans these days take.

Then we watched a few food documentaries. I have a knack for finding obscure documentaries on Netflix. Among the many that we watched, two stood out. One you may have heard of - "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead". The other maybe not - "Hungry for Change".

They introduced us to the idea of juicing and it's benefits. It's also a super great tasting way to eat your veggies!!

One of our favorite recipes has been carrot, apple, and ginger. The ginger is great for any digestion issues you may have (acidic stomach, anyone?) and it also gives you a little bit of a 'drunk' feeling at first.

Many of our recipes have come from www.rebootwithjoe.com - it's Joe Cross's website (from "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead")

Here are some of the various ones we've tried so far: (and I have liked every one! - Pretty awesome for a picky veggie eater.) I even tried kale!

Do you juice? I'd love to hear your favorite recipes!! If you do not, grab a juicer and try it out!!

Raisa + Timothy --- Girard Park Engagements

Freshman year of high school. Not normally a time when you think you are going to meet the one that you are going to spend the rest of your life with.

But for Raisa and Timothy, things were different. If you've ever been around them together, you can see it.

They started dating April 20, 2005, and have been together ever since!! When they are wed on April 20, 2013, it will be their 8th dating anniversary. And the start of the rest of their lives!

We spent the afternoon in Lafayette's Girard Park. The sun was shining, the ducks were everywhere, and the weather was absolutely gorgeous (even if it was a little chilly!)

I love Surprises!!!

My sister starts making her Christmas list for the next year right after Christmas. There's never any doubt what to get her. I'm the complete opposite. I never make lists or ask for anything.

This year I got some pretty big surprises. I even didn't have to wait until Christmas!

Brandon bought me a new car!

Yes, it took us a while to get photos of it - on account of all the rain we've had. We finally had a clear day and were able to get a few photos!!

Here's my shiny new Subaru WRX! It will soon be the face of our automotive photography line.
If you look close enough, you might be able to find the reason we had to get the new car... my first "before Christmas" surprise :)

I love how Brandon and I both have different ways of shooting the same subject - whether it's cars or our brides!

Karen and Jason -- Wedding Part 2

Their wedding day started with a groomsman football huddle.

And ended with a "Who Dat" chant and 2nd Line.

A day to remember for sure!

After a ceremony at St. John's Cathedral in Lafayette,
(you can see it here)
Everyone headed to Grand Coteau Ballroom for dancing and CAKE!

How gorgeous is this cake?!!

I loved the personal touches throughout the day.
Karen's bracelet with rose petals inside, the groom's cake, the fleur de lis accents, the cake-pull, the customized umbrellas and rags for 2nd Line -- to name a few.

I love cake-pulls! It's always fun seeing who gets the ring!

The groom's cake... WOW!

How gorgeous are these three sisters?! You should have seen them boogie on the dance floor!

May your day always start with a huddle and end with 2nd Line!

Mary + Hunter -- Lafayette Engagment Photography

She walked into the room and turned off the light. "Will you marry me, Ladybug?" was written out in glow-in-the-dark stars.

As the story goes, she said "Yes!!".

A heartfelt sentiment of their relationship together. Their Love. Forever embodied in glow-in-the-dark stars.

I caught a glimpse of that glow. The sparkle in her eyes when he looks at her. How he beams when she makes him laugh.

The afternoon started off at the Lafayette Children's Museum. Playing around with some of the exhibits. Afterwards, we wandered into Parc Sans Souci in Downtown Lafayette.

Mary and Hunter, thank you for inviting me into your lives! I wish you many many years of glow-in-the-dark love.

The Lazy Beagle

It's Monday. Again. While I thought this day was only bringing me one day closer to seeing my "brother" again (our best friend who's in the Army- pretty much my brother if I ever had one), I was in for a surprise. He told us a few weeks ago that he'd be driving down on Wednesday. He showed up TODAY! Yayyyy! While it was only a quick visit, it was nice to see him a couple of days earlier than expected :)

Our dogs missed him too. Especially the beagle, Bandit. This layed-back, lazy as ever, 8 year old acts like a puppy around our "brother". Howling. Jumping. Running laps in the living room.

Bandit, every other day...

He's pretty much spoiled rotten and loved to pieces :) Pin It

Brittany & Justin -- Lafayette Wedding

Tears were abundant during the toasts at the rehersal dinner. You could feel Love circling the room like music bouncing from paper to air as the words were read with such emotion. Such heartfelt sincerity. Laughter rang out through the tears and danced across the room like "the wave" at a football game. There's no doubt these two are very loved and appreciated.

When Justin first introduced me to Brittany, I could see it.  That little spark that sits in your heart and screams out to everyone when it finds "the one".   That twinkle in your eye when you look at her.  The joy you emit when you talk about him.  Perhaps it was their sparks and twinkles that first met.  Drew them closer without them realizing.

The day started off with a gorgeous dress and the cutest personalized hanger!

Brittany and Justin are both huge Saint's Football fans, and little touches of fleur-de-lis were scattered throughout their wedding details.

Brandon was able to snag a few pics of Justin and the guys at St. Elizabeth Seton.

Special thanks to Leona Sue's Florist for the amazing flowers!

After the ceremony, everyone headed over to The Madison for music, dancing, and amazing South Louisiana food from Mr. Keet's.

And the CAKE! Can't forget the cake!  It tasted heavenly!

Brittany and Justin, you are both such amazing people that Brandon and I are happy to call friends.  We wish you many, many years of wedded bliss and lifetimes of happiness!

Memorial Day -- A Thank You Note

A friend posted a picture on facebook.  It's Friday so of course I'm wearing red! Was the caption. Her husband is overseas.  Serving his Country.  Missing his wife.

This Monday is Memorial Day.  As many enjoy an extended weekend, a BBQ, a family gathering, I remember those that served our country to allow us such leisures. Such Freedom.  Cemeteries dotted with American Flags.  Families with oceans between them.  My friends, proudly serving.

The same Patriotism and Service to Country can be seen in 'local heroes' around you like the Police and Firemen.

Take the time to thank a Veteran. Soldier. Policeman. Fireman. These are the people who make the sacrifices to uphold the Freedoms we hold so dear and keep us safe at home.   All gave some. Some gave all.

Thank You.
